CORRELAÇÃO DO CONSUMO ALIMENTAR RESIDUAL COM CARACTERÍSTICAS DE CARCAÇA EM TOUROS JOVENS DA RAÇA NELORE

We used carcass characteristics obtained by means of ultrasonography which was evaluated: loin eye area, thickness of the subcutaneous fat at the 12th and 13th rib, fat thickness in the rump and finishing, besides the residual food consumption as a food efficiency measure. The data were collected in 43 Nelore bulls, with a mean age of 21 months and mean initial weight of 457 kg (± 38 kg), from July to September, 2018. Pearson's descriptive statistics and correlations were estimated using the software Statistical Analysis System (version 9.0). The results show good correlations between carcass characteristics and CAR, with correlations -0.05, -0.11, -0.35 and -0.27 being the respective AOL, EG, EGP8 and ACAB characteristics associated with CAR. While correlations between EG / ACAB (0.95) and EGP8 / ACAB (0.85) were positive at high magnitude. The CAR presented associations with changes in body composition through the characteristics studied.
