Resumo

The objective of this study was to evaluate the ingestive behavior pre-grazing sward and post-grazing sward of cows in Mombasa grass under intermittent stocking. An investigation for the Catholic University and Environmental Center of the Catholic University Center of Tocantins. The ingestive behavior was evaluated by visual observations in two continuous periods of 24 hours for 08 cattle, 300±76.52 kg, with an average of 26 months. The total dry mass in the pre-grazing sward condition was 4,608.2±1,426.7 kg/DM/ha, post-grazing sward 2,736.5 ± 865.7 kg/DM/ ha, and a mean between pre-grazing and post-grazing sward 3672.4 ± 1531.9 kg/DM/ha. The ingestive behavior of the animals was altered as a function of the different pasture conditions, with a longer grazing time for post-grazing sward condition compared to pre-grazing sward (578 x 413 minutes/day). The ingestive behavior of cattle was influenced by the structural condition of the forage plant, according to the intensity of removal of leaf blades, being benefited in the Pre-grazing condition when compared to the Post-grazing sward.
