Resumo

The subnutrition affects fetal development during a period of increased fetal demand, which may affect progeny productivity and future generations. This prenatal nutritional stimulus is called fetal programming (PF). This work evaluated carcass traits of steers submitted to PF. A total of 120 steers were used in which their progenitors were initially divided into three nutritional levels during pregnancy. Carcass traits were characterized by ultrasonography measure, evaluating longissimus muscle area at 30 days and 180 days, also evaluating the subcutaneous fat thickness at 180 days and subcutaneous fat thickness in Biceps femoris at 180 days. There were no differences between the treatments for carcass traits. Prenatal nutrition did not influence the muscular area and fat deposition at 180 days.
