This study concentrates on the concept of generative AI (GenAI), in Education sector, specifically at Higher Education level. Encourage ethical use of GenAI in higher education by setting clear guidelines can support this responsible integration. Guidelines are documents that can be analysed from diverse pespectives. This exploratory study aims to build a conceptual model for analysing Guidance material.
Research design main elements are defined, such as the research Question: What are the main characteristics of Guidelines for ethical GenAI use in Higher Education? To answer this question, we decided to perform a scoping review to provide a solid base to build the conceptual model that can be used and improved for analyzing Guidance material.
We used framework method that provides a step-by-step guide analysis process. First, we make a bibliometric analysis of WOS publications to take an overview of the field and of guidelines focus. Then we selected 10 relevant papers. This final sample was analyzed by content analysis and Chain-of-Thought Prompting, in an integrated manner.
We build a conceptual analysis model, structured on 3 main Dimensions: General Information, Ethical Foundations, and Ethical and Responsible Use. Those dimensions have 7 categories and several items.
This study demonstrates the value of integrating bibliometric analysis, content analysis, and Chain-of-Thought Prompting within literature reviews. The combined use of these methods enhances the rigor and depth of the review process, offering a more comprehensive understanding of existing guidance materials. At the theoretical level the conceptual model developed through this research represents a flexible tool that can adapt to ongoing developments and transformations within AI technologies. At practical level, the identification of guidelines principal characteristics from ethical GenAI use perspective, this work supports both the analysis and creation of evidence-based guidelines tailored to the needs of individual universities.
