Introduction (Context/Justification)- The ability to conduct a rigorous and critically synthesized Systematic Literature Review (SLR) remains a significant challenge among undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. Many struggle to develop a coherent knowledge structure and produce research that contributes meaningfully to the existing body of knowledge. This gap often delays academic progression and weakens theoretical innovation. To address these deficiencies, this study introduces the Matryoshka Model—a fifteen-phase systematic framework designed to enhance the analytical depth and structural coherence of SLRs in educational and research settings.
Goals and Methods (Research Design, Data Collection, and Analysis Techniques/Instruments)- The study aims to develop, validate, and assess the applicability of the Matryoshka Model across disciplines. A qualitative research design was employed using a case study strategy. Data were collected through semi-structured questionnaires administered to 40 participants, including postgraduate and doctoral students, who engaged with the Matryoshka Model as part of their research methodology. Thematic analysis and data triangulation were used to interpret the findings.
Results (Obtained or Expected)- Findings revealed that the Matryoshka Model enhanced participants’ ability to synthesize literature systematically, identify research gaps, and develop theoretical contributions with greater confidence. Participants reported improved comprehension of research logic, methodological coherence, and academic self-efficacy.
Conclusions- The Matryoshka Model offers a robust, structured, and pedagogically adaptable tool for guiding students and early researchers in conducting effective SLRs. Its application fosters critical thinking, accelerates research progress, and supports academic-industry integration. This study represents an initial empirical validation of the model’s educational and methodological value within higher education research contexts.
