Abstract

Introduction. There is still a considerable global shortfall in the care provided to women with endometriosis. It is insufficient for care to be merely effective and safe; a comprehensive understanding of the lived experience of women with this health problem must also inform it. Despite the plethora of literature on the biomedical aspects of endometriosis, the psychosocial impact of the disease has been relatively under-researched. The extant literature on this topic primarily focused on surveys incorporating quality of life and pain scales. Although this research is a valuable contribution to clinical practice, it does not fully encompass women's experiences with the disease and the implications it holds for them.

Goals and Methods:

The aim was to develop proposals for implementing clinical practice to enhance the daily lives of women suffering from severe endometriosis. The discussion focused on identifying collaborative actions to promote health.

Participatory methodologies. Metaplan is a group facilitation technique based on the interaction and participation of the people involved in the collaborative search for improvements or solutions to a familiar situation through the permanent visualization of the discussion. This technique assumes that the optimal decisions are reached when individuals are permitted to engage fully in the decision-making process.

Results:

We design and implement a participatory tool in the form of a Metaplan. We will show the researchers' perceptions and attitudes regarding this technique and the transfer of results to clinical practice.

This technique's use in qualitative research facilitates the attainment of consensus through a democratic process and the collaborative analysis of information in situ.

Conclusions:

The results demonstrated the efficacy of participatory methodologies, such as Metaplan. Considering the potential for transferring qualitative outcomes to clinical practice may be interesting.
