Abstract

Abstract:

Introduction:
Male suicide has been reported in South Africa within the last several years. In order to develop therapeutic interventions for survivors and their families, as well as preventative measures, the researcher hopes to investigate this complex phenomenon.
Male -specific suicide is a serious and complex global public health issue. The main question this doctoral research aims to answer is: What are the complex universal patterns that lead to suicidality in boys and men? In order to understand the complicated relations between sociocultural, psychological, and economic factors that influence suicide behaviors, this study will incorporate a thorough synthesis of the body of existing literature and qualitative research approaches.

Methods:
This project will undertake a thorough systematic literature evaluation, including theories from public health, psychology, and sociology, using an advanced multidisciplinary approach. Comprehensive qualitative interviews and focus group discussions will be carried out to gather varied viewpoints from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Building a solid conceptual framework that will guide the ensuing empirical studies is the goal of this methodological rigor.
Results:
Although the project is still in its early phases, its goal is to provide a thorough understanding of the complex global trends associated with male and male-specific suicidality. It is projected that preliminary results will shed light on the ways in which sociocultural norms, gender role expectations, stigma associated with mental illness, and socioeconomic factors promote suicidality. This synthesis will serve as a foundation for the creation of a sophisticated and original conceptual framework.

Discussion:
The discussion will explore the potential implications of the findings for the development of targeted preventive strategies, informed mental health policies, and culturally sensitive interventions aimed at reducing global suicide trends among men and boys.
