Third-harmonic generation (THG) is observed in wet-etched optical microcavities formed from silicon oxide. The THG spectra reveals an intensity enhancement due to the combination of the phase matching and fun-damental light localization provided by the optical microcavities. Our device design along with a very effect-tive collection of the visible lights through a optical tapered fiber allows for a net efficiency as high as 10-5.
