Resumo

Concern about maintaining the structural integrity of subsea structures has been increasing as more severe operating conditions are experienced in the offshore industry due to high depths, high pressures, low temperatures and long distances from shore. The development of technologies that represent a significant cost reduction, while maintaining a commitment to safety, is critical to making new projects viable. Many studies have been carried out regarding the influence of the adhesion of the layers in sandwich pipes with polypropylene core, where the relation between adhesion and the resistance to collapse of the sandwich structure is evident. This paper presents a study indicating that the influence of adhesion depends on the material used in the annular space and the geometry. A parametric study varying the material in the annulus of the sandwich pipe and the adhesion condition was carried out for different geometries. The results are supported by experiments previously published.
