Abstract

The purpose of the work was to construct phase diagrams based on two phase systems constituted by ionic liquid and 1.3 dioxolane followed by the partitioning study of ciprofloxacin, which is an antibiotics very used for the treatment of several infections in humans and livestock. In the systems studied, the top phase is rich in 1,3 dioxolane, while the bottom phase is rich in ionic liquids. For most of the systems studied, ciprofloxacin migrates to the 1,3-dioxolane rich phase; demonstrating therefore, the antibiotic shows marked affinity with the more hydrophobic phase (Kc= 1.39)
