Bio-hydrogen gas production often generates by-products that need to be separated in order to acquire a high level of purity. The use of palladium membranes has proven to be an advantageous alternative for hydrogen purification due to its high permeability and selectivity. In the present study, a palladium membrane was deposited on an alumina hollow fiber and this composite membrane was tested for hydrogen selectivity, reaching a permeability of 2.59x10-4 mol s-1 kPa-1 at 450 °C. The hydrogen/nitrogen selectivity tended to infinity, indicating that the produced membrane is a suitable alternative for future application in hydrogen gas separations.
