Abstract

This work aims at the construction of aqueous two-phase systems based on good’s buffers ionic liquids (GB-ILs) + tripotassium phosphate (K3PO4) for application in extraction and recovery of synthetic food colorants (FD&C YELLOW #5-FY5, mix of &C RED #6 + PONCEAU 4R-MRP, mix of FD&C BLUE #1 + FD&C BLUE #2-M12 and FD&C YELLOW #6-FY6). The GB-ILs anion not display influence on phase formation, possibly coused by K3PO4 salting-out effect that overlap the hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity effect of GB-ILs. Food colorants recoveries (M12, FY6, MRP and FY5) were obtained with values between 99.66 and 100 %, 91.87 and 97.65 %, 95.78 and 97.18 %, 79.87 and 95.05 %, respectively.
