YIELD OF THE AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF Artemisia annua ANALYZED IN DIFFERENT PARAMETERS
Artemisia annua is a plant of the family Asteraceae, also known as losna, which has been used in traditional medicine in China and India in the treatment of fever attacks and treatment of lupus erythematosus. Its active antimalarial principle contains properties such as insecticide, herbicide and antiulcerogenic and also it has components capable of eliminating cancer cells being a new alternative in the treatment of cancer. Thus, due to the benefits of this plant, the objective of this work was to carry out the solid-liquid extraction using water extractor, hexane and ethanol in contact with dry A. annua. It was observed, by preliminary tests, that the aqueous extract had the highest yield compared to other extraxts. Thus, the extraction yield was studied according to the contact time and the substrate concentration. The times studied for the extraction process were 20 min, 40 min, 60 min, 80 min, 100 min and 120 min, and the A. annua concentrations were 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 15 g L-1. The best yield obtained was 26,23 ± 0,78% (w/w) in 60 min of extraction and the concentration that obtained the best yield was 5 g L-1 of the plant.
