MAGNETIZED POLY (STYRENE-CO-DIVINYLBENZENE) PARTICLES SYNTHESIS FOR USE AS IMMOBILIZATION MATRIX OF LIPASE

A combined effect of suspending agent concentration (polietilenoglicol) and mechanical agitation on the synthesis of magnetized poly (styrene-co-divinylbenzene) particles (STY-DVB-M) has been studied through the response surface methodology. A 22 full factorial design was employed in order to conduct the experimental matrix and results analysis. Optimum conditions were found using 1% of suspending agent (PVA) and 400 rpm mechanical agitation, rendering 76% of useful polymer mass fraction. The potential of the support was evaluate for immobilizing Candida rugosa lipase by adsorption. Under the conditions used high immobilization yield was achieved and the immobilized derivative also revealed high hydrolytic activities (3575.5 ± 46.2 U.g-1) and synthetic activities (98.7 ± 10.6 U·g-1), thus indicating that its feasibility to be used to mediate typical lipase reactions.
