PLANOS DE MANEJO EM UNIDADES DE CONSERVAÇÃO: UMA CÓPIA COLETIVA?

The planning and management of Conservation Units (UC) follow a scope defined by the Public Bodies of control and environmental regularization. In the State of Minas Gerais, this competence lies with the State Forestry Institute (IEF). Thus, to get to know the reality of the UCs and Management Plans (MP) registered and published by IEF, a search was made to verify their similarity and/or any circumstantial points, in addition to questions (positive or negative) that might interfere in the effectiveness of the fulfillment of the objectives of each UC. The results are worrying, from the legal and operational point of view, and question the guarantee of effectiveness of the MPs, since the weaknesses are clear. This assessment considers and instigates the challenges, questions and changes required urgently and essential for the successful management and conservation of the Priority Areas.
