Analise do comportamento espectral de superfícies de áreas urbanas e sua relação no mapeamento de áreas queimadas

Recent studies have shown that urban areas are a source of confusion in burned area algorithms, resulting in a misclassification of burned surfaces. This may occur because certain non-naturals materials have similar spectral behavior as burned surfaces in specific wavelengths. Accordingly, the identification of those materials is critical for the development of effective and accurate regional mapping and monitoring method. This work presents a preliminary analysis of the spectral signature of manmade materials focusing on burned areas mapping using the burn-sensitive vegetation index; (V,W). For this purpose, we use spectra of natural and manmade materials from ASTER spectral library and the response functions of bands 5 and 7 of OLI/LANDSAT 8. Results show that roofing materials and burned surfaces present similar values of the W index.
