Abstract

The decline in the ecosystem services worldwide caused by changes in land use/land cover have been required planning actions searching for a new pattern of landscape use. This way, our main objective was the definition of criteria set to support the decision about forest conservation areas, thinking about the provision of water ecosystem service. Two ways of Participatory Techniques application supported the criteria definition. A positive result was that we could obtain similar results through these two ways of the application when the experts come from similar areas of knowledge. We concluded that our criteria represent the landscape features mentioned by other studies and can integrate the decision process in the agricultural basins with similar characteristics to Sarapuí and our main objective.
