Resumo

Linear and von Neumann entropies showed differences in detecting phase transitions.

The biggest differences were in superlattices.

The biggest difference is in the insensitivity of linear entropy in some parameters.

First, thank you for your question.
In fact, one of the ways that can be used to detect quantum phase transitions is the use of metric spaces. These metrics can distinguish quantum states by quantifying the similarity between states. Thus, distances between quantum states have the potential to indicate whether the states belong to distinct phases and therefore could be used to detect quantum phase transitions.

About the relationship of this measure with entropy, based on what I know, I don't know if there is any direct relationship, since the metrics compare wave functions, while the entanglement measures used in this work refer to a spatial part of the chain in relation to another. That is, the link is not direct.
