Resumo

Energy system planners routinely face single-stage network-constrained dispatch problems when addressing more detailed representation in the operation or expansion planning problems. Known methods exist for fully decomposing such problems into separated generation and transmission problems without active transmission components such as direct current (DC) links and phase-shifter transformers. In the present work, we propose a Benders decomposition method that accounts for passive and active transmission components and splits the problem into a master dispatch problem and a network feasibility subproblem that generates feasibility Benders cuts to the master problem. We aim to provide an efficient and accurate approach to solving the power system's operation planning problem, which is crucial to address the increasing share of renewable energy and assess the transmission network flexibility needs.
