Resumo

This study provides a multi-criteria model based on the integration of three techniques to solve the storage location assignment problem. The ELECTRE TRI was firstly used to divide the items into three classes previously defined by the decision maker. Successively the correlation analysis and clustering have been performed in order to group, within each class, the items into families based on their similarity. Finally, ELECTRE TRI was used one more time to assign the items to the shelf levels. The proposed model has been applied using real data gathered from a company operating in the footwear industry. Results show that the model is able to help the decision maker in choosing the storage position of any items, avoiding the random storage and increasing the picking velocity.
