Abstract

The present work aims at comparing the performance of two recent computational intelligence techniques, Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) and the Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), in solving the offshore wind farm layout optimization problem. To do so, the wind data from a coastal area in the northeastern region was considered, as well as the power curves of a commercial wind turbine, and cable data from a manufacturer to optimize a 500 MW farm of installed capacity. The methods had similar performances and the best solution was obtained by the SCA algorithm.
