Abstract

The strategic integration between ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) governance and Industry 5.0 is a challenge for managers of industrial sectors such as oil, considering the pressure for the energy transition and decarbonization of the sector, associated with the complexity of multiple decision-makers and multiple alternatives. In this context, this study seeks to analyze the strategic integration between ESG governance and the objectives and managerial decisions of the adoption of emerging Industry 5.0 technologies, aiming to structure the decision-making process in a Brazilian oil company. The study proposes the use of the Value-Focused Thinking approach as a Method of Problem Structuring, through the Gold Standard technique. The study resulted in the identification of the alignment of the adoption of emerging technologies of Industry 5.0 with ESG Governance and sustainable development. The contributions of this study have the potential to guide managers in the search for value-based solutions, reducing the gap between strategy and organizational performance.
