Operational safety in industrial production lines is essential to ensure operational continuity, reliability and loss reduction. Therefore, this work proposes a multicriteria decision model, based on risk, for prioritization of critical safety barriers in industrial plants, with MAUT and Bayesian decision analysis. The model seeks to identify critical events, failure modes, and preventive and mitigating barriers associated with operational indicators. The relationship between the performance of the barriers and the impacts on the system, in different scenarios of operational danger, is structured by a matrix of payoffs in the financial, performance and customer compliance dimensions. The conceptual model is applied in a case study in a recently implemented industrial manufacturing plant in São Paulo. The expected results of the model seek to highlight the weaknesses of critical barriers as opportunities for actions aimed at operational excellence and industrial management.
