Abstract

This paper proposes an integrated approach for container unloading and delivery from a vessel, jointly addressing the physical stability of the vessel and the total operation time. In the first stage, a Genetic Algorithm searches for unloading sequences that satisfy IMO-derived stability criteria throughout the entire operation, evaluating each step via a weighted cumulative stability score. In the second stage, approved sequences feed a Discrete Event Simulator that minimizes total delivery time using combined routing over a real campus travel-time matrix. Results show fast convergence and effective separation between safe and unsafe solutions, with the optimal solution maintaining positive metacentric height at every unloading step.
