Additive manufacturing allows the fabrication of physical objects from digital models, built layer by layer through technologies such as molten material deposition, stereolithography and laser sintering.
For companies, maker labs, and hobbyists, the use of tools for production scheduling can be crucial in a challenging process due to problem characteristics such as the production environment, machine preparations, periods with constraints for preparation, and packaging and batch sizing decisions.
Thus, we propose the development of three mixed integer linear programming models to optimize the programming of prototype production in the context of additive manufacturing, for different production contexts: a single machine, identical parallel machines and unrelated machines.
The result of the models was superior to the practices of the maker laboratory of the Instituto Federal Goiano, Campus Rio Verde, reducing the number of days needed for the production of various products.
