Abstract

This study applies the PSI-CoCoSo hybrid method in the selection of diesel-electric generators for Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs), used in offshore oil and gas operations. The research considered six Caterpillar generator alternatives and nine technical and operational criteria, including price, frequency, power, displacement, number of cylinders and speed. The data was defined based on technical specifications of the equipment and validated by experts in the offshore sector. The methodology used the PSI method to determine the weights of the criteria and the CoCoSo method to order the alternatives. The results indicated the Caterpillar C280-16 as the most appropriate alternative, followed by the Caterpillar 3512C. The sensitivity analysis, performed with different λ values, did not alter the final ranking, evidencing the consistency of the results. The study demonstrates the contribution of multicriteria methods to technical decisions in complex offshore environments.
