Electricity transmission auctions in Brazil involve high investments, technical restrictions and intense competitiveness among the sector's agents, making the quality of decisions in the planning phase a relevant factor for the feasibility of the projects. In this context, Building Information Modeling (BIM) can act as a structured information management environment, integrating geometric and quantitative data, technical parameters, and information associated with the elements of the projects. In the context of auctions, its use can support decisions such as the definition of the arrangement of substations, considering the arrangement of bays, busbars, transformers, equipment and buildings, as well as the comparison of technical implementation alternatives capable of meeting the requirements of the project. From the BIM data, it is also possible to relate technical and quantitative characteristics, spatial constraints and impacts on costs, deadlines and constructability, subsidizing preliminary estimates and the preparation of proposals for the auctions. In this sense, the structuring of this data can allow solutions to be evaluated in a comparable way, reducing the dependence on information in spreadsheets and drawings. The model can provide evidence for quantification of materials and equipment, identification of interferences and verification of spatial requirements, contributing to the reliability of the assumptions in the technical and economic analysis. Thus, BIM is considered not only as a modeling tool, but as a source of data to support decisions in the preparation of proposals
