Abstract

The study proposes an approach based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), through the Benefit of the Doubt (BoD) model to evaluate the performance of software development teams using operational indicators and adequacy to the process design. The study also seeks an adaptation of the Lean Inception methodology and its principles to structure and select indicators in the two dimensions as complementary: production performance and adherence to the process. The data was extracted from the Azure DevOps platform, covering the period from 2023 to 2025, normalized and subjected to two independent executions of the BoD model, based on output-oriented AED. This strategy allows you to analyze operational performance and process maturity separately, reducing limitations associated with evaluations based on a single composite indicator. The results demonstrate that the teams with the highest performance have a balance between productivity, quality and compliance with the process, in addition to enabling improvement to support decision making.
