Abstract

Cable routing in offshore wind farms involves decisions that directly impact the cost of deployment and the electrical performance of the collector grid. Although there are consolidated formulations for the problem, many treat electrical losses in a simplified way, by linear approximations or prior incorporation into the model parameters. In this work, we propose a formulation of Mixed Integer Quadratic Programming (MIQP) for the Wind Farm Cable Routing Problem (WFCRP), in which the losses due to Joule effect are incorporated directly into the objective function, preserving the quadratic relationship between flow and dissipation. This approach allows you to represent physical behavior with greater fidelity and compare your results with linear reference models. The experiments indicate results consistent with the literature and show that the modeling of losses significantly influences the economic evaluation of the solutions, reinforcing the importance of their incorporation in the planning of offshore collector systems.
