Abstract

This article analyzes how scientific knowledge is appropriated and transformed by journalistic narratives in digital environments. The construct of symbolic circulation is proposed, composed of the dimensions of production of meanings, circulation, recognition and legitimation. From a theoretical-analytical approach, the construct is applied exploratorily to three articles of Le Monde diplomatique Brasil and to the sources mobilized by them. The results show that the passage between the scientific and journalistic circuits involves the selection and recontextualization of knowledge, with different ways of preserving sources and mobilizing their authority. It is concluded that circulating does not only mean reaching another circuit, but assuming new relations of meaning, recognition and legitimation.
