This article is based on a survey of the field of study on the regulation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its effects on journalism, reflecting on how the legislative discussion on Bills of Law (PL) in the Brazilian Congress can signal future mechanisms of accountability or promotion for the national press. To this end, Bill 2338, of 2023, in a version approved in the Senate and under discussion in the Chamber of Deputies based on a proposal by Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) that intends to establish a Legal Framework for Artificial Intelligence in the country, is analyzed. The article adopts a methodology for analyzing legislative proposals with a potential impact on journalism (Paganotti, 2023), focusing on articles on workforce training and reorganization, copyright control and remuneration, and transparency and oversight measures on high-risk AI systems.
