Abstract

This work aims to understand how, in the view of local journalists from Vitória da Conquista (BA), digital innovation is articulated with journalistic values, professional identity and structural conditions for the exercise of the profession. The methodology is configured in a qualitative-quantitative approach of exploratory and descriptive nature. A structured questionnaire with 22 objective questions and three open questions in online format was applied to 65 professionals who work in journalistic media in the city. The thematic analysis supported the interpretation of the qualitative data collected. Among the results achieved are organizational and managerial barriers to innovation, the logic of the audience in tension with journalistic values, the intensification and precariousness of journalistic work and the ambivalent character of digitalization in local journalistic practices.
