Abstract

The method of applied research can boost innovation and transformation in the journalistic field, contributing to the offer of solutions and theoretical reflection. This coordinated session opens space for research that presents results from the development of artifacts (products, models, constructs, systems or new processes) applied to the journalistic context. The artifact can take various forms, such as audiovisual productions, websites, applications, artificial intelligence agents, interactive content, podcasts, games, comic books, manuals, guidelines, applications of social network analysis techniques, use of data journalism, solutions with artificial intelligence, conceptual frameworks, methodologies, among other products capable of offering concrete solutions in journalistic production, circulation and consumption.

In the context of applied research, prescription activities are more common, which indicate behaviors and actions about a given situation, indicating what should be done. It is more found in the experimental research technique, in which there is a manipulation of reality based on the control of a situation, to produce changes (Franciscato, 2007).
