The climate crisis is planetary, but emergencies have different repercussions in different spaces and territories. Given this reality, and in the face of the scenario of platformized journalism, how can local information be relevant to addressing this global problem? This is what this article proposes to discuss, based on recent works developed by the authors themselves. This is an exploratory research, based on a bibliographic survey, research on information consumption and interviews with local journalists (Montipó; Del Vecchio-Lima, 2025a; Alcântara Aragão, 2025). We start from understandings about climate emergencies, platformization, local, hyperlocal and community journalism. Preliminarily, this research signals that (hyper)local journalism is strategic to communicate the climate crisis and its developments.
