This article analyzes preliminary results of a master's research on the incorporation of artificial intelligence tools into the productive routines of journalists in Rio Grande do Norte. The investigation adopts a qualitative approach and examines five semi-structured interviews with professionals of different levels of experience. The study articulates discussions about platformization, automation and journalistic work. The findings indicate that AI is incorporated under the promise of speed and productivity, but the time saved tends to be converted into more tasks, greater frequency of publication, and reduced space for verification. Routine writing is partially shifted to automated systems, while journalists take on functions of selection, command, review, contextualization and validation. Tensions related to authorship, transparency, loss of autonomy and the preservation of professional know-how also emerge.
