Abstract

This article aims to analyze the declared uses of artificial intelligence (AI) in television reporting, to reflect on the influence on audiovisual materiality and journalistic credibility. The study adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, based on a case study of the series "JN in China", aired on TV Globo's Jornal Nacional in 2026. The objective is to understand how technology was used to the narrative and identified for the public. The analysis shows that, in the corpus studied, AI was predominantly employed to illustrate historical scenarios and abstract concepts. Despite the transparency strategy adopted by the news program in the use of technology, there are ambiguities in the distinction between the content captured, the generated and the partially manipulated, indicating the need for more precise signaling, to preserve journalistic credibility in the face of the growth of algorithmic mediation.
