This article is part of a master's thesis, and aims to understand the meanings of proximity triggered in reports published by Matinal Jornalismo. Anchored in the concepts of territory, space and place, and in the perspective of Proximity Journalism proposed by Camponez (2002), the study employs Bardin's (1977) Content Analysis on a corpus of 33 reports, from which 117 textual sequences emerged distributed in five analytical categories. This article focuses on two of them: commitment and resolute press. The results indicate that Matinal practices a deontological proximity, by treating transparency and oversight of the public power as commitments to the community; and a functional proximity, by transforming information into an instrument of action and citizen guidance, reaffirming the reader as a social actor.
