This study proposes a reflection on horizontality based on the narrative practices of independent journalism in the Brazilian Northeast, based on the link between communication, territory and memory. Theoretically based on the authors: Sarah Corona (2019), Georges Didi-Huberman (2012) and Rogério Haesbaert (2021). The text observes how the body-territories act as narrative agents in the production of a local history rooted in community and affective experiences. Images are understood as fragments of memory and expressions of territoriality. From an approach that values situated knowledge, the work highlights the potential of independent journalism in the construction of other ways of seeing, narrating and inhabiting the northeastern territory from local knowledge.
