Resumo

The design of Fault Estimation methods for Electro-Rheological dampers of automotive suspension systems is considered in this paper. Multiplicative loss of effectiveness actuator factors are considered, which are estimated by two distinct approaches: i) an LPV asymptotic polytopic observer; and ii) a sliding-mode fault reconstruction technique. While the first uses a mixed H2/H∞ performance objective to reduced disturbance effects, the later has a simple synthesis procedure by using a fixed input distribution matrix and ensuring sliding motion. Results are discussed through simulation, demonstrating the truthfulness and capability of these tools to estimate Electro-Rheological damper faults.
