Determination of Cr in food supplements samples by GF ASS after acid digestion

Favorite this paper

In this study, it has been evaluated the total chromium content by GF AAS in 26 samples of food supplements. The food supplements are defined as products that intend to complete specific diets and they are often used by athletes whose goal is the sportive yield enhancement. The sample method preparation was done by acid digestion and microwave-assisted radiation. With optimal pyrolysis and atomization temperatures, GF AAS technique made possible the analysis with good accuracy and precision, obtaining low detection and quantification limits (0.04 and 0.07 µg/g; 0.15 and 0.22 µg/g respectively). Many of the analysed samples had different values from the labels and some of them had higher chromium content than the stipulated dietary reference intake for this mineral.
