Resumo

In recent years, the interest in coordination compounds has increased in which the aim is to maximize the so-called "antenna effect". In trivalent rare earth (RE3+) complexes with organic ligands, the use of ~diketonates is highly targeted[11 since the RE3+ small absorption coefficient is then compensated by both the great absorption capacity of the ligand and the efficiency of the energy transfer from this type of ligand to the cation RE3+. In this work, we have attempted to demonstrate that the association of a ~-diketonate ligand with europium diphenylphosphinate - [Eu(dpp)3]n - can have a positive impact on the RE3+ emission intensity, enhancing cross relaxation and allowing a more effective sensitization of trivalent rare earth ion. The preparation consisted of subjecting [Eu(dpp)3]n- synthesized through the methodology proposed by Bim et al.[21 -, resuspended in ethanol, and an ethanolic solution of butylmethoxydibenzoylmethane - Hbmdm - to reflux under constant stirring for 48 hours. From Eu3+ 5Do -7 7F2 transition in photoluminescence spectroscopy spectra[31 (Fig. 1.), it can be concluded there is only one crystallographic site type by which the trivalent rare earth ions are inserted. Moreover, considering the ratio between the integrated intensities of 5Do -7 7F1 and 5Do -7 7F2, it is possible to claim that those trivalent europium ions are distributed in high symmetrical sites. Therefore, further sequential experiments aim to study, analyze, and confirm the effectiveness of energy transfer in the association of [Eu(dpp)3]n with Hbmdm.
