Introduction: Research output has become an important measure of organisational performance because it generates subsidies in higher education institutions. The aim of this paper is to evaluate a focused and supportive Research protocol writing to the MSc Clinical Psychology Students at a university in Gauteng Province. The MSc Clinical Psychology students are initially introduced via face to face interaction on how to write a professional research Protocol and to the different qualitative aspects required.
Methods: Six MSc Clinical Psychology students who have been exposed to the focused and supportive research protocol writing between 2022 and 2023 will be invited purposively to evaluate the Impact of attending the sessions. The Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Analysis will be adopted during the individual conversations with the participants. The qualitative data collected from the conversational method will be analysed through the conversational analysis method.
Expected Results: It is expected that by exposing the MSc Clinical Psychology Students to writing an academic research protocol during the first year of their Clinical Psychology training they will be able to complete their mini dissertation. This implies that the facilitation sessions in general offer more research strengths and developments to the MSc Clinical Psychology students towards the completion of their mini dissertation in record time. The anticipated weaknesses from the data collected will need to be dealt with the different individual students.
