1. General Submission Guidelines 📌

• 📝 The submission system will only allow abstract submissions from authors who are already registered and have completed payment by July 31, 2025.

• 🔢 A maximum of one (1) abstract may be submitted per registration.

• 🌎 Abstracts must be written in English.

• ❌ Duplicate submissions of the same abstract will be rejected.

• 🎯 Abstracts should align with the scientific themes of Prion 2025 (listed below).

2. Presentation Modalities 🎤📊

• 🗣️ Oral Presentation: Available only for submissions with payment confirmed by June 30, 2025. Each speaker will have 10 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for discussion.

• 📌 Poster Presentation: Posters should be 90 cm × 120 cm (W × H) and will be displayed for the entire duration of the meeting.

• 🔍 Selection Process for Oral Presentations: Oral presentations will undergo a peer review selection process. Authors will be informed of the final decision after evaluation. Abstracts not selected for oral presentation will be automatically reassigned as poster presentations.

• 📌 Authors must indicate their preference for oral presentation during submission.

3. Abstract Formatting Rules 🖊️

• 📢 Title: Concise and descriptive, in sentence case.

• 👩‍🔬 Authorship: List all authors in order of contribution, including institutional affiliation(s). The presenting author must be clearly identified.

• 📄 Body of Abstract: Maximum 250 words, including the following sections:

  • 📖 Introduction: Context and relevance of the study.

  • 🎯 Objectives: Clearly stated research objectives.

  • 🔬 Methods: Key methodologies employed.

  • 📊 Results/Discussion: Quantitative or substantial qualitative findings and interpretation.

  • ✅ Conclusion: Significance of results.

• 🚫 Figures and Tables: Not allowed.

• ❌ References: Should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

• 💰 Funding Information: If applicable, funding sources should be acknowledged at the end of the abstract.

4. Scientific Themes 🔬

Abstracts must relate to at least one of the following topics:

• 🧠 Neuropathology of Prion Diseases

• 🧬 Functional Protein Aggregation in Yeast and Mammalian Systems

• 🔬 Protein Structure, Function, Conversion, and Dysfunction

• 🔄 Spreading of Pathology in Prion-like Disorders

• 🦠 Pathogenic Mechanisms in Prion and Prion-like Diseases

• 🐄 Animal Prion Diseases

• 🩺 Biomarkers for Prion and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases

• 💊 Therapeutic Approaches for Prion and Prion-like Diseases

5. Review Process and Selection Criteria 🏅

Submitted abstracts will undergo peer review by the Scientific Committee, which reserves the right to accept, reject, or suggest changes to the presentation format. Abstracts will be evaluated based on:

• 🏆 Scientific merit and originality.

• 🎯 Relevance to the congress themes.

• 🧪 Quality of methodology and results.

• 🌍 Potential impact on the field of prion research.

• ✍️ Clarity and coherence of the abstract.

6. Publication and Ethical Considerations 📖

• 📚 Accepted abstracts may be submitted to the Special Issue of Frontiers in Neuroscience: Unfolding Aggregation: Pathological and Functional Roles of Amyloids in Neurodegeneration and Beyond. 

• 📊 Abstracts must present substantial results — submissions with minimal information or statements that results will be presented later will not be accepted.

7. Submission Process 📩

• 📎 Abstracts must be submitted via the official Prion 2025 submission portal.

• ⏳ The deadline for submission is July 31, 2025.

• 📢 Authors will be notified of acceptance and presentation details by September 15, 2025.
