Nuclear Magnetic Resonance continues to be one of the most powerful and promising tools of modern science, with applications of the first magnitude in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, biology and medicine. This fundamental scientific importance of NMR is attested by the awarding of four Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Physics in the last 58 years. Evidently, NMR techniques at higher fields are currently essential, for example, in the development of about 80 to 90% of current research in organic chemistry, being in itself one of the main objects of study of physics, physical chemistry and chemistry. analytics. At the same time, NMR is one of the most important and versatile tools in modern biochemistry, especially in determining the structure of proteins and peptides in solution and the intermolecular interactions that determine their function, being one of the most important techniques in Structural Biology. NMR is still one of the most efficient tools in the design and evaluation of drugs and in high throughput screening (HTS) processes and, simultaneously, its importance is growing in several other areas, such as inorganic chemistry and metabolomics studies. It can be said that the dissemination, understanding and use of NMR techniques are essential for the technological development of the country.
The Association of Users of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (AUREMN) has been working uninterruptedly, since its creation in 1988, for the dissemination of NMR and scientific-technological advancement in Brazil. In this period, the number of spectrometers with superconducting magnets in Brazil increased from 01 to 160, approximately. The number of NMR specialists is constantly growing, driven by activities organized and disseminated by AUREMN. Due to these advances, Brazil currently occupies a prominent role in NMR worldwide. Thus, the main objective of the NMR Users Meeting is to create an environment that favors the sharing of ideas and the discussion of the most recent advances in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. The meeting offers students and researchers a contact channel to exchange experiences and common scientific interests. Through this contact, our objective is to contribute directly to the formation of specialized human resources in the area and to the scientific and technological development of the country.
