About

From October 23 to 25, 2024, at the Agronomic Institute of Campinas (IAC), experts, researchers, professionals and leaders from the public and private sectors gathered to discuss the role of this remarkable palm tree in the bioeconomy and in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Originally from the Americas, macauba is emerging as a versatile source of sustainable raw materials, opening doors to sectors such as food, energy, chemicals, health and materials. This event was a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and discuss the potential of macauba, promoting it as a valuable resource for our biodiversity.

With an integrated approach, the event addressed strategies for the sustainable cultivation of macauba, its integration with other agricultural activities and its essential role in revitalizing degraded areas. Furthermore, we explore its potential as a sustainable alternative to traditional vegetable oils and a source of biomass for future biorefineries, contributing to the mitigation of the impacts of climate change and the decarbonization of multiple economic sectors in Brazil and throughout the region.
