ORAL GENRES AND TEACHING WORK: CHALLENGES AND POSSIBILITIES Abstract: In this coordinated section, we aim to present different teaching experiences of the oral genres in both academic and academic contexts. Since orality still suffers from prejudices and suspicions, we argue that the relationship between orality and writing occurs in a continuum or gradation pervaded by textual genres, which surpasses a dichotomy or a hierarchy between writing and orality (DIONÍSIO; MACUSCHI, 2007, p. 14). In this perspective, in particular, we aim to discuss how different didactic experiences with oral genres contribute to the development of students' language abilities, as well as acting in favor of teaching work. These are experiences carried out in both academic and academic contexts, all of which integrate stricto sensu research and are supported by the theoretical-methodological and philosophical contributions of Sociodiscursivo Interacionismo (BRONCKART, 2012, 2017) and the studies of Didactics of Languages (SCHNEUWLY; DOLZ, 2004). It will be presented the following genres: oral exposition, regulated debate and a catalytic genre (SIGNORINI, 2006), namely, the preparation instruction of writing in foreign language. As a result, we believe that the discussions will not only allow us to understand how work with oral genres is possible and necessary, but above all to discuss the challenges and possibilities both for the development of the language abilities of the students and for the work of the teacher. EXCHANGING A GENRE WRITTEN BY AN ORAL GENRE: ORAL BIOGRAPHICAL BOOK EXPOSITION BETWEEN RETEXTUALIZATION FACTOR AND READING APPROPRIATION Abstract: It is not unknown to discourse scholars the relation between primary and secondary genders proposed by Bakhtin, in The genera of discourse (2000). Less obvious is that the transition from a secondary genre (novel or biographical work) to a primary genre (oral exposition) can have important didactic effects for the appropriation of a secondary genre. The purpose of this communication is to present and to problematize a didactic proposal used in a class of Text Production of the Course of Business Administration, of the UFRGS, namely, the production of an oral exposition of a biographical book of political leader of free choice of students . For purposes of analysis, the concepts of complex forms of discourse and language appropriation will be used, as defined by Benveniste (PLG II, 1990) and redistricted for text teaching (Silva, 2013), as well as the concept of genres catalysts (SIGNORINI, 2006). The methodology consists of analyzing the written material produced for the oral presentation (slides) of two (2) students. Preliminary results indicate that the didactic sequence of the oral exposition (Schnewuly and Dolz, 2005) works well beyond the retextualization factor: it allows, in fact, the appropriation of the reading by the insertion of the subjective element in the explanation of facts of the life of the biografed character in the text written. Keywords: teaching of text production; appropriation of reading; oral presentation; biographical book; Émile Benveniste. THE ORAL INSTRUCTION AND ITS IMPLICATIONS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WRITING’S DEVELOPMENT Abstract: In this presentation, we intend to approach issues related to the way the oral instruction is given to the students, at the moment in which they are requested to produce a text, and if this form adds to their effective understanding and influences in the complete development of the proposed activity. Starting at this initial point, we want to analyze, using as a theoretical background authors related to the Enunciation Theory, the teacher’s speech in an English class from a language’s course at the moment of the instruction for the production and in what form this reflects on the student and on the writing of the first version of the text. In order to verify this possibility, it will be analyzed the same text production in 4 different texts produced by students from de advanced 4 level (the last one of the school). Going with this movement, we have as an idea to verify if the instruction given by the teacher in the classroom is elucidative or restrictive to the student and if it is through it that the student can achieve the wishing goals at the text production in a context of English Language teaching. To evaluate this issue, it will be taken in consideration recognized authors from the Enunciation Theory as BENVENISTE (1969), such as his readers who reflect about writing and about pedagogical practices related to it, like KNACK (2016), MACHADO (2016), among others. Through this axis, we can, then, comprehend if the oral instruction interferes or not in the text practice of the students and in what way it happens. Thus, by understanding how this fact works, it is possible to rethink the teaching practices in order to improve the teaching methodology of writing in English. THE ELECTORAL DEBATE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL FINAL YEARS: CONSIDERATIONS ON SETTING A DIDACTIC DEVICE Abstract: This paper aims to present some considerations on the teaching and learning process of the oral gender “electoral debate” as developed with students from Middle School final grades. In other words, our aim is to highlight the resources and didactic gestures developed and involved in the application of two didactic sequences with two mixed classes, so that the students could get involved and act in an electoral process for the Students Council. The theoretical and methodological assumptions that support our discussions are those from the Sociodiscursive Interactionism (BRONCKART, 1999, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2017), the Genevan Didactics of Languages (DOLZ; SCHENEWULY, 2010; DOLZ, 2016) and the Social Literacy studies (STREET, 2014). The results obtained from our analyzes have allowed us to consider that teaching actions and devices must be, first, closely related to a literacy project that reflects the real aspirations of the educational community and, second but not least, that they also need to start from a committed diagnosis of the learning situation for its effectiveness. Keywords: Oral genre; Students Electoral Debate; Didactic Sequences; Didactic Actions and Devices.
