Resumo

Introduction: Gastroparesis is a condition in which motility and, consequently, gastric emptying are impaired, resulting in gastric fullness, nausea, vomiting and abdominal distension. This disorder has multifactorial causes and may be associated with several clinical conditions. Objectives: To report a case of a newborn patient who presented with gastric stasis with spontaneous resolution. Methodology: This is a descriptive observational study based on the analysis of the patient's medical record and literature review. Results: Newborn, term with adequate weight for gestational age, female, with infectious risk due to positive vaginal and anal swab for Streptococcus agalactiae, born by cesarean section of difficult extraction and clear amniotic fluid with lumps, APGAR 9/9, weight 3450g, length 50.5 cm. She developed yellowish vomit, abdominal distension and abdominal radiography with loop edema, absence of air in the rectal ampulla. Based on these changes, fasting was initiated for 4 days. After 2 days, he evolved with worsening of abdominal distension and increased distension of the stomach on the radiograph. Intravenous bromopride was started and an abdominal ultrasound was performed without alterations. In upper digestive endoscopy, bilious stasis was visualized in large quantity, pylorus without deformities of easy transposition, with diagnosis of gastric stasis. After that, diet with neocate by nasoenteral tube and with daily progression and without vomiting. Transfontanelle ultrasound and skull tomography without alterations. On the 11th day of birth, the baby was offered a maximum volume of neocate milk by nasoenteral tube, presenting vomiting and reduced volume. After 13 days, the gastric stasis was resolved, contrast distributed throughout the stomach, loops and rectal ampulla. Initiated the transition from nasoenteral tube to oral route and was discharged soon after, with good acceptance of oral milk and without new episodes of gastric stasis. Conclusion: Finally, this is a case with early diagnosis that contributed to a rapid and spontaneous resolution, and a good outcome for the newborn.
