Question

Jhon Rengifo replied to the topic "Differences in EC and chamber measurements"

Publication: Carbon dioxide and methane fluxes in a tropical palm swamp peatland in the Peruvian Amazon

Great work! Thank you for sharing. We are working with similar things in peatlands on Brazilian savannas. We found the same seasonal effect on CO2 and a slight seasonal effect on CH4. Amazing to see this on Amazon! However, we don't have funds for Eddy Covariance yet. I was wondering about the differences in CO2 data between the chamber and EC methods. Would it be expected to have lower CO2 values in EC data because of photosynthesis? Is your EC data showing that peatlands are a source of carbon? I'm happy to see your data and enthusiastic about discussing it further.
