Resumo

Technology has facilitated access and dissemination of information in all areas, especially in the academic world. Despite this phenomenon promoting the democratization and scope of scientific data, the references collected in experiments arranged in articles and other publications are still far from their target audience. Currently, the amount of information available to researchers who are in the midst of an investigation can serve as a double-edged sword: on the one hand, the large volume of references is vital for the development of new projects and, on the other, the time spent in the process of reading and obtaining valid data can be exhausting. When we think of Information Science, we have tools for the purpose of gathering, organizing and reading elements, enabling the simplification of the analytical process. However, what we see today is that the application of these tools is not yet completely widespread among other sciences. Bioinformatics aims to develop tools applicable to the life sciences and we can observe its benefits in the fields of genetics, virology and other areas. Nevertheless, the dissemination of these instruments is a slow process, taking into account that Bioinformatics is an area under construction and development.
