Resumo

Obesity is a growing worldwide public health problem characterized by excessive accumulation of body fat, induction of a low-grade chronic inflammatory condition, and association with several other diseases, such as cancer. This abnormal accumulation of fat affects the morphophysiology of adipose tissue (AT), including the secretion levels of extracellular vesicles (EVs). EVs are essential structures for extracellular communication. There is a strong relationship between obesity and a worse prognosis for breast cancer, and it is also known that EV released by obese AT can alter the tumor microenvironment. Still, a factor as important as unknown is metabolic cooperation between preadipocytes and tumor cells in obesity, especially the role of fatty acid oxidation.
